Teen Area
We created a "Teen Area" within our library for Jr High and High Schoolers. We have two game consoles with several games, card and board games, teen magazines, graphic novels, and the newest jr fiction books with comfy beanbag chairs to relax in.

Norton Public Library
Teen Area Policy

The Teen Area at the Norton Public Library was created as a space for teens ages 12- 18. The rules listed below will help ensure that teens feel welcome and comfortable in this space. This area is reserved for teens. All library policies and user agreements are in effect in the Teen Area.

By using this area in the library, teen patrons agree to use only games provided by the library. If any behavior is deemed inappropriate by library staff, teen patrons will be given a warning. A second incident will result in the loss of Teen Area privileges.

Ø The most important rule of the Teen Area is to respect each other, library staff and other patrons in word and action.

Ø The Teen Area should be used only for its intended purposes, therefore, no physical contact, no rough housing, no hitting, no public displays of affection and no swearing or abusive language will be permitted.

Ø No weapons of any kind are permitted in the library.

Ø Any behavior considered aggressive by the staff may result in the police being notified and further actions may be taken.

Ø No Food or Beverages.

Ø Vandalism, theft or damage of library property or to library grounds is a legal matter, and the police will be notified.

Ø No sitting on the floor.

Ø Earphones may be brought from home or purchased at the front desk for $1.00.

Ø All equipment such as video games and controllers are to be checked out and returned at the front desk by the patron using them.

Ø Violating any of these rules is grounds for being asked to leave the library immediately. Repeated incidents may result in the loss of Teen Area privileges.

Ø The materials in this room are intended for a teen audience. Parents are responsible for deciding which items they feel are appropriate for their children.
