Blog on Books for Boys
10:03 AM EDT 5/19/09
A reference to GuysLitWire showed up in my mailbox yesterday and I found it interesting in light of our recent discussions. I may feature this in the next Consult the Cat.

Apparently it was set up in response to the need for information on what boys prefer to read. Some reviewers set up this blog and they attempt to bring good books that boys would enjoy if they knew about them to the attention of their intended audience.

I found it a fascinating blog to explore. The categories are on the lower left of the homepage. Even if the library doesn't have the specific titles reviewed, it gives a great sense of what they would enjoy.

I don't think it is as immediately useful as many Readers Advisory sites. But it does suggest a great project. Set up a special collection of novels for boys and men. Or, better still, find some boy readers and have them set up a special collection.

Another fun site for books for guys is Jon Sczieska's Guys Read www.guys.read.com
Last time I checked it the search function was down, but there where good recommendations for younger, middle and older guys.
