Promoting pleasure reading to men

A recent article at boston.com regarding men and reading groups sent my thoughts off on two tangents...one focusing on the original topic of the article and the other, the subject of this post. How do you promote pleasure reading to men? Is this a gender issue or not? Do you use the same tatics and tools and have the same conversations about books with your male patrons as you do with female clients? When was the last time you talked up that oh so beautifully written, poetic, breathtaking book to the guy in the stacks? Though RA might start with a query from the patron, I suspect most of us do mention our favorite recent reads without solictation in the course of our jobs. What are your thoughts about men vs. women and reading?
