First let me say welcome and hope you continue to post and talk about RA.

You pose a good question. There are so many ways to keep track of what is being read today. I am regisited at shelfari but truly haven't used it much. I have a personal subscription to Bookbrowse and this is where I try to keep track of things I want to read or purchase. Here's what I do. If I see a book I'd like to purchase in the future for our library, rather than making a paper list, I post it on bookbrowse. I give it some tags like holocaust fiction, historical romance, starred reviews or the like. This alerts me to the reason I picked it to begin with. I also indicate if I'm going to wait for the paperback edition. On the personal side I keep a list of future reading possibilities. The site allows me to give it a rating of must read, want to read, etc. It's just another way to keep a list. And I love the other book content on bookbrowse so the subscription price (around $30 a year) is worth it for me.

I also have a Library Thing account. Danbury Library (CT) is using Library Thing heavily and staff there have done workshops in the state about it. I created a new books list and posted to our website using Library Thing. It's easy to use and the list looks fine. I wonder how others are using this.

I haven't really got a handle on how patrons might be using some of these sites. Our opac does not have the ability to create a good keeper list. I have asked for this feautre. This seems the natural place to keep lists of books read and books you want to read. Our vendor (Auto-graphics) recently added the ability to post reviews. This has not taken off yet but I'm hopeful.

We use LibraryThing to post our new arrivals. We then feed the list to our teen blog. It's worked well for us, and we've had no problems.
